Privacy Policy

I hold some information about those lovely people who choose to sign up to the mailing list (your name and your email address). Therefore, this is a brief summary of everything you need to know about how this information is collected, used and stored. Feel free to peruse it at will, and if you have any further questions, please do get in touch!

Are you sitting comfortably? Then we’ll begin.

First thing’s first: Information, in the following discussion, means one of two things: your name and your email address – and it doesn’t even have to be your real name. I neither collect nor keep any other forms of information about you, personal or otherwise. None of my books are sold directly through this website, nor are any further details required to sign up to my mailing list. This means I don’t have access to any sensitive financial information. If you buy one of my books through my nominated stockists, this information will be held securely by their processing company. They never share this information with me, or with anyone else.

How is information collected through this site?

This website is powered by Wix, who are GDPR compliant (you can find their Privacy Policy here) and my mailing list is managed by them. You will only ever find yourself on this mailing list if you have signed up for shoutouts, which consists of periodic book release announcements. There will never be more than three of these emails a month.

If you want to sign up to receive shoutouts about new books, you can do so here.

In order to make things run more smoothly (mostly so you’re recognised by the site if you return to it), Wix use several cookies of the inedible kind, which run through this website. You can find out about what cookies are used, what they do, and how long they store data for, here.

I, presently, use analytical tools in the form of the Wix Hit Counter, which tracks site views. Wix.com tracks this data and I do not have access to it. I do not, however, presently use Google Analytics and Facebook Pixel.

Who has access to your information?

Just me – and I never EVER give anyone’s information to anyone else. Honestly, I rarely even look at it.

Since Wix manages my mailing list, your details are stored on their secure servers. Again, you can find out more about their Privacy Policy and Terms of Use on their main site.

You may also follow me on Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram – in each case, I store no information about you through them since they process and collect the information. You can find their Privacy Policies and Terms of Use on their respective sites.

How is your information used?

I send out sporadic (at best) shoutouts to those discerning few who have signed up to the mailing list. These generally contain shoutouts about book releases. If I ever get around to setting up a blog I will update this accordingly.

If you sign up to the mailing list, you will be asked to provide consent for me to send you these things. (You can refuse, I don’t mind – but honestly, what would the point of signing up to the mailing list actually be?).

Generally, they are pretty short, also.

How is your information stored?

Wix hosts all your details (again, just your name and your email address – I’m never going to ask for more than that) on their secure servers.

That’s it.

Your rights

Your information belongs to you, which is exactly who it should belong to, in my opinion. Therefore, you can ask me at any time the following:

What information do I hold about you?

Where does it live?

Is it secure?

Do I share it with anyone?

Who has access to it?

I will answer these questions free of charge.

You also have the right, at any time, to ask that your information be deleted, amended or transferred, and to be removed from the mailing list. It won’t change my opinion of you, you lovely things!

So, if you ever change your mind about my having your name and email address, get in touch using this form and I’ll do whatever you need me to do for you to feel comfortable about it*.

*Within reason, relative sanity and the law.

There's a helpful article you can read on the Which? website if you want to find out why you've been bombarded with so many emails.
